The Soup Chef is a one-of-a-kind food truck. The food is hot, tasty, and homemade, and their soups certainly live up to their name.
Tucked in the parking lot for Fairfield House and Park, they serve more than just chip truck standards. We order their "yesterday's soup", a cream of asparagus, which is probably the best asparagus soup I've had in any setting, outdoors or otherwise. Bonus: Yesterday's soup is a dollar less expensive than "Today's Soup", and the adage "day old soup tastes better" is definitely true.
The fish and chips came in a very healthy portion of perfectly crunchy fries, and the fish looked and tasted freshly battered. Fried fish tacos were quite large, and the fish portions in it tasted equally freshly made.
The pulled pork poutine was huge. If you're looking to feed a small island nation for a few days, this is what you want to order. Fries were crispy, cheese stretchy, and the pulled pork amount generous.
The surprise hit was the fried pickles. They were hot and freshly served from the fryer and came with a tangy and spicy ranch sauce. A++ will eat again.
The chip truck is on the property of a public park, so grab your food, take it to one of the many picnic tables or benches by the water, and enjoy a fresh meal by Lake Ontario.
If you're in the area and you drive by, make a stop and try the soup.
