We were invited to Mulligans to attend a band performance—a hallmark of the place that attracts weekly patrons. While the dish listed on the daily special looked great (fish & chips) and most of the people were enjoying it and even sharing, I ordered, what was listed as “Hot Roast Beef or Turkey,” selecting turkey as a protein. As a garnish, I ordered a greek salad (instead of potatoes) and steamed beans (was given the choice of asparagus, carrots, or beans). The arrived meal was a disappointment, which I didn’t make a fuss of, because we were in a rather large company: instead of a greek salad, two spoonful of mashed potatoes were in a plate, a really tiny amount of rather overcooked beans and a pile of paper-thin turkey slices. The already quite small pile, was actually a pile of 5-6 really tiny turkey slices, sitting on top of the white bread that added a volume, a padding to make the turkey “pile” look fuller (when in reality, the amount of protein was visibly less than the amount of mushed potatoes). The white bread was not listed on the menu, neither do I eat it, watching my gluten intake. For a charge of $18.75 per dish the portion was very disappointing and I felt it had no value at all—generous promise with the unjustified, insufficient delivery. Additionally, in the dish description it said “your choice of beef or chicken” and the word “chicken” was directly under the title “Turkey”: a contradicting typo, comical, yet alarming for the restaurant owner/manager. The musical performance, however, was excellent: we thoroughly enjoyed the repertoire and vigorous dancing. The atmosphere was light and cheerful and everyone seemed to have a great time. Yet, regarding the food, I regret ordering my dinner there.
