I am so disappointed I have to have to write this, but I need to warn others. This was mine and my partners FAVOURITE falafel/ shawarma place in Hamilton, we were recently going 2-3 times a week. But last week, after my partner had 3 bites of their falafel wrap, they said “Ew, I think I bit into a bone.” Turns out… not a bone, it was a DENTAL TOOTHPICK. This was SO incredibly disgusting, we were both stunned. Neither of us had absolutely any idea how this could even happen… The business gave us a full refund, which IMO is basically the bare minimum. When I went back to bring the wrap/ toothpick / to be refunded, the person helping us said, “I’m sorry- I just want to assure you it wasn’t in anyone’s mouth, but it was only used to clean a bottle.”
I’m not sure if this was supposed to make us feel better about the situation? But regardless, why do you have these in a restaurant / where you’re preparing food? And what level of carelessness has to be present for that TOOTHPICK to “fall” into a wrap, with multiple toppings, and be wrapped up, panini pressed and given to customers? I will say we are both super upset about this because we loved this restaurant- and loved the food before this experience.
However the fact that this even happened has brought into questions RE: health codes, cleanliness, and perhaps even levels of ability/ intoxication present in the people handling and preparing the food. For context this happened last Friday February 6th around 8:30PM.
