I came here for dinner one cold winter night during a spa excursion with my girlfriend at The Go Place, knowing nothing of it other than the fact they had what I was craving: noodles.
Drawn to the glowing sign like moth to flame, we walked in. I ordered the Biang Biang noodles and, let me tell you, it was a true banger of a noodle dish served in a giant bowl slathered with spices and garlic. So spicy and filling. The noodles were so long and so thick I was having a little trouble picking them up without making a mess. Eventually, I figured twirling the noodle around my chopsticks was the best course of action. Next time, I'm going to need to bring something to tie my long, luscious hair back.
The noodles themselves are, of course, handmade fresh on site. There's a window between the dining room and kitchen where you can watch the cooks making the noodles, which is always fun to watch, but eventually I felt I had to avert my eyes because I thought I was making the noodle chef self-conscious.
On the side, I had a nice succulent mushroom salad, marinaded in sweet and sour sauce, perfect for cooling the pallette between bites of the giant, fiery bowl of noodles.
The only place where Gol's fell short was the service. While the server was friendly and did a good job of explaining what was on offer, there was a 5 or 6 minute gap between the arrival of my girlfriend's dish and app and my dish and app, which was a little awkward. Still, the food did arrive rather quickly and my girlfriend loved her meal as well.
My only suggestions to them are to get the service in order, bring us our appies first and then bring both of our mains at the same time. Also, as a vegetarian, more non-meat options would be great too!
