I've never been to Field of Dreams before, it's sort of out of the way from where I live and I can't drive. Today though, I had attended a job fair not too far from it that was a total flop, so I figured "Why not?" on my way back home.
The owner who was the one running the stand had to be one of the most lovely people I've ever met, super social-able and kind. I wanted to give them a tip, however they refused and said "they already own the place", giving me extra cheese on my Poutine and taking care to ask if I wanted to add aany sort of extras... Generally just a very kind and considerate person, which meant a lot to me after how poorly my day had been up to that point, to be afforded such kindness by a complete stranger... It made my day!
But what followed was the food itself... the Poutine from Field of Dreams is by far the absolute BEST Poutine I've ever had in my life! There is NO compromise in any element of it: the gravy, cheese, and fries are TOP of their class and I was getting so excited to eat more with every bite! I think something unique about the Poutine from here is that it's incredible in it's own unique way, I'm by no means a well versed "foodie", but it's good in a way that makes it stand out from it's competition, namely RIV, Burger World/Syl's, or Ivans, which feature a very similar style of poutine IMO that Field of Dreams sort of shakes up somehow... I wish I was better at describing it, all the components of it just taste so... Unique to the place! The price and amount of food were incredible too, $12 for a delicious Large sized Poutine and can of Pepsi was absolutely worth it over how much a meal at some place like Wendy's is nowadays!
For the unconditional kindness that the owner showed me without even knowing I was having a bad day, to the absolutely unforgettable food, Field of Dreams is a MUST have recommend if you're in for some delicious chip-stand/truck food! It's too bad I tried it so late and I'll have to wait till next year for more, hehe!
I had an amazing experience at this food truck!
The fish and chips were absolutely delicious—crispy, flavourful, and served hot. The service was impressively fast, making it a perfect stop for a quick meal.
I had to take my meal to go, and it was nicely packaged for the travel home—nothing spilled or soggy!
While I haven’t tried the lemonade yet, it looked super refreshing, and I’ll definitely be back to give it a go.
The prices were very reasonable, and I loved that there was plenty of seating on the patio.
Plus, there were lots of parking spots available, which made it super convenient.
Highly recommend checking this place out!
