Good food, good prices, nothing fancy. We've been in before for both take-out and dine-in on our way through North Bay and appreciate the reasonable prices, excellent flavours, and generous portions.
Technically, we've only had 4 dishes from here--the dal tadka, the chicken tika masala, the jeera rice, and the cheese kulcha-- but they've all been some of the best we've had.
What really makes Amritsari Bites stand out is their use of spices--and I don't just mean heat! When my husband and I were in yesterday, we ordered everything at a "medium" spice level--and both agreed that we could have done with more heat. But the actual flavour was fantastic. It was definitely the best chicken tika masala I've ever had, and that was really due to the texture of the gravy, the distinguishable vegetable pieces, and the discernible whole spices.
Also, cheese kulcha is always a winner, and everything is good as leftovers!
This place doesn't necessarily look like much. The plates were perhaps a bit dusty, the dining room perhaps a bit cool, the music a touch loud. My husband said that the washroom was clean, yet cramped. But the food itself is fantastic and the service is a really good balance of helpful without hovering.
